Founded in 1870 by Simon Philip Goudsmit as a small haberdashery shop at 132 Nieuwendijk (one of Amsterdam’s oldest streets), De Bijenkorf (“The Beehive”) is the oldest and most luxurious department store chain in the Netherlands.
